Ali Al-Arbash and Sons Company has been in the Kuwaiti
jewelry market for more than 70 years. From humble beginnings
in pearl trading, Ali Al-Arbash and sons grew to become
one of the pioneers in the Kuwaiti jewelry business.
It started back in the 1930’s in Souk Al-Dakheli,
one of the main markets of old Kuwait, in a small jewelry
shop called Ali Al-Arbash and sons Jewelry. From this
small shop, Ali Al-Arbash, the father, traded in pearls
along with his sons; Mohammed Ali (Abu AbdulKareem),
AbdulRasool (Abu AbdulRedha), and AbdulNabi (Abu Faisal).
By 1947 the once small Al-Arbash Pearl
shop began to sell gold items as well. Some of the pieces
were embellished with small pearls to give them a more
unique appeal.
The early 1960’s made traveling
abroad much easier from Kuwait. Thus, in, 1961 Ali Al-Arbash
and sons seized the opportunity and began importing
jewelry from India. The Indian designs were intriguing,
garnished with a variety of precious stones and diamonds.
Ali-Alarbash and sons succeeded in being one of the
first to trade in such quality items in the Kuwaiti
market place. Soon after, Ali Al-Arbash family suffered
the passing of their father, now leaving the future
of the business in the hands of the three sons.
In 1965, following the same insight and
determination as their father, the brothers sought,
again, to expand the business. They began importing
Italian and a variety of other European jewelry designs
to sell along side the already popular Indian designs
and their original gold items. The variety of designs
became so popular that by the end of the 1960’s
the brothers were obligated to move to a bigger store
to keep up with increasing demand.
The late 1970’s began a shift away
from the plane gold pieces as the brothers focused more
on the unique jewelry designs. The jewelry the brothers
imported into the Kuwaiti market became so successful
that, by the early 1980’s, Ali Al-Arbash and Sons
shifted it’s focus strictly to these unique jewelry
pieces.
In 1981 Ali Al-Arbash and Sons changed
their name and became Mohammed Ali Al-Arbash & Brothers
Company. They now began diversifying their business
with real estate ventures in Kuwait and abroad.
In 1987 the Al-Arbash family suffered
another loss when the oldest brother, Mohammed Ali,
passed away. Now the business’ future lay in the
hands of the two brothers, AbdulRasool and AbdulNabi.
Then again, in 1998, the name of the business changed
once more to AbdulRasool & AbdulNabi Al-Arbash Company.
In 1999 the two brothers; AbdulRasool
and AbdulNabi, decided to reintroduce their father’s
name back into the market place, just as it had been
50 years ago. Once again, the family business is known
as Ali Al-Arbash Sons Jewelry.
Just as, 70 years ago, Ali taught his
sons the business, his two sons are now teaching their
sons. They tell them that through honest work and trust,
our family business will continue to thrive, continue
to inspire the Kuwaiti jewelry market, and continue
to pass down their tradition of honesty and trust to
future generations.
Today, most of our customers have been
with us through the generations. That’s not just because of our variety
of quality items, but because they know they can trust
us, and rely on our pioneering experience, to help them
find exactly what they need.
